Difference in international coverage?

I'm a discussant this week, but I though I would throw this out to the group and hopefully we can touch on it in class. While reading the Fry piece, I couldn't help but think of the recent tsunami coverage. Do international disasters affect the types of frames that are employed by domestic news organizations? Would the frames be much different from those used in domestic disasters?

It seemed the US national news organizations got caught up in the debate about whether the Bush administration and "the American people" ponied up enough relief money initially or were practicing a form of imperialism limited to warfare and not good works. At that point nationalism seemed to kick in as big part of the coverage frame as "we as a country" decided not to made to look small by others.
